Montelobos has been committed to sustainable farming practices since 2011 to build better and fairer social and economic standards in the mezcal industry.
To respect our spirit, provenance, and culture we preserve traditional mezcal production by choosing artisanal production and support mezcaleros and their families with long-standing relationships.
We use cultivated agave for all our variants and 100% certified organic agave for Espadin. To combat deforestation and protect the delicate ecosystems in which the agave grows, we harvest it in the gentlest and most respectful way, with maximum yield from minimum resources.

We are always investing in researching and designing more efficient wood utilisation, waste treatment and composting systems for the future.
In our production plant, we currently compost our vinasa and fiber residues, mixing them together. As producers, we have also taken innovative measures to improve the design of our palenque so that not only is there less waste in the environment, but also the workers or palenqueros produce in less tiring conditions.
Finally, all our mezcals are kosher certified.
